He visits Hassie Knight, an older woman who owns a small store. Vaughn was named after her own son who was killed in war, so she thinks of Vaughn as her surrogate grandson. She's off for the day but he meets young Carrie Hendrickson who gives him a good tour of the town, it's residents, and history. He realizes soon his mistake by accepting the discreet job at Value-X and he wants to help retain the quality of life in Buffalo Valley. This is a beautifully written story which I totally enjoyed. It's about love, true values, and kindness of others joined together in a small community. An outstanding story.

I loved this book. I wish it was longer. Reading about this gown and the people in it makes you want to be a part of it. I definitely want to read more books written by this author.
I like her work, she has a way of bringing her stories to life. The people of Buffalo Valley sound like some I could call friends.
I am a sap for love with all of its twists and turns, Buffalo Valley is just such a book about twisting love....you’ll want to pick it up and finish it.
a nice wrap up of all the characters of the previous stories. I love the small town story, and the characters love and protection of their way of life!!
Once again Ms. Macomber has done a fabulous job on a novel, especially as my ancestors came from a similar location in North Dakota. I enjoyed each and every volume of this series and only wish she would continue writing about the "folks" of the Dakotas. They are a special kind of people.
I finally got to read the end of this series. I have been waiting to read the ending of the story I started several year ago & couldn't find the book at the Library. When I saw this in ebooks I was very happy to be able to finally read the end of the story I had started to read a long time ago. Debbie Macomber is a very good writer & gives you books that keep you entertained without all the sex that so many authors used. We can read & enjoy reading good Christian fiction books. So if you are like me & enjoy reading any books written by Debbie you will grab them as soon as possible expecially when you have started the story & never got to read the ending before.
This is the final Buffalo Valley, North Dakota story.
The community is prospering, which is both good and bad. All the characters of the Dakota series are doing well. The young families are growing and financially successful. It is a good location for a mega-story to expand.
Vaughn Kyle is looking to establish a career after the military,and since he will be in the area anyway his first assignment is to scout the community. He already has a suitable girl, so his career is first and foremost on his agenda. How could his plans possibly be upset? He never dreamed he would meet someone like Carrie Hendrickson.
