Author Dusty Pilot draws you into a realm of terror when he takes a quick look inside a cave leading far beneath a Costa Rican rainforest. After entering the cave he becomes lost, and the cave becomes a prison infested with thousands of bats, millions of cockroaches, huge spiders and centipedes. Making his way through the twisting maze of passages without food or water for 14 hours, and a dying flashlight, his story will grab your most primitive fears and crank them up, leaving you breathless.
One last startling and unexpected twist (years later back in the United States) serves as a warning for everyone about the dangers lurking in dark, damp, mysterious places beneath the Earth's crust.
Trapped In The Damas Cave Costa Rica Terror Beneath The Rainforest My Costa Rican Nightmares Book 1 edition by Dusty Pilot Literature Fiction eBooks
After reading this book, a chronicling of a cave exploration that turns into a devastating cavern of horror, well, let’s just say, move over, Indiana Jones! Author Dusty Pilot’s exploration of Costa Rica with friends leads him off the beaten path and into a dwelling of darkness, coming face to face with bats (whose fearsomeness is downplayed somewhat) creepy, crawly insects, and pretty much the kind of stuff that is the reason I have to admit I am not brave enough to face in a strange land. As a Georgian, if I never saw a cockroach again it would be a day too soon.I wonder why bat poop gets a fancy name like “guano”? Dusty informs the readers that bat droppings are relatively odorless, unlike that of our pets. Unfortunately, guano harbors a fungus that if exposed to humans by passive inhalation, can cause flu-like symptoms, as he recalls later after this prior ordeal among squalid conditions. All in all, I am glad the author survived and lived to tell all, what it’s like to come face to face with some of your worst fears in real life unexpectedly.
Upon reading I find myself reaching back to my viewing of the TV show Fear Factor, in which contestants have to eat these horrendous looking cave-dwelling spiders. No knife and fork to help them out. I feel for the author in this regard. Arachnids can be formidable and terrifying…I suppose there is a reason the dictionary adopted the term “arachnophobia”. Like most rational adults, we do not technically feat “the dark”, we fear the “unknown” that dwells within the dark.
If you possess a thirst for travel and adventure, you will definitely like this author and will want to partake in his subsequent works as well. I definitely want to check out his cave picture gallery when I get a chance. As scary as those caves must be, I have had my attention piqued enough to want to have a firsthand look.

Trapped In The Damas Cave Costa Rica Terror Beneath The Rainforest My Costa Rican Nightmares Book 1 edition by Dusty Pilot Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Very well written. I would recommend this book to everyone I know. Love the mystery of this novel. Great job!
A little light but still interesting subject. Hope to read more of Dusty's adventures soon.
It's rare that a book pulls you in so deep that you're looking forward to what happens next, again and again. The fear, desperation, and refusal to give up as Dusty struggled inside the cave takes over your senses. I strongly recommend this adventure to everyone, and can't wait to read more.
Incredible, I felt like I was in that cave with Mr. Pilot. I could not stop reading. I know that I would rather just read about these caves-instead of being in one. Great Book! My heart was pounding while reading it.
A very interesting story. Wish I could go see this cave. There should be an update with this.
What a great book. I felt like I was in the cave with him. Made me shiver! I've learned I will not go into any cave I might find! The author just drags you into that cave with him and doesn't let you out until he gets out. What an adventure. Read it. You will love it. Its a great escape. But, the part about 8 years later really got to me... Tony
